First Prelude: In spirit, enter the Supper Room and reverently listen as our Lord converses with His Apostles.
Second Prelude: Grant me grace, O Jesus, to reflect deeply on the mysterious work of the Holy Ghost in faithful souls, and to resolve not to place any obstacle in the way of His movements.
First Point
The Holy Ghost Testified of Jesus Christ
The Holy Ghost testified gloriously of Jesus Christ on Pentecost. As the Spirit of Truth, He came visibly and powerfully to the faithless city of Jerusalem, announced by a mighty wind. What could the hatred of Christ’s enemies achieve in the face of such a witness?
Even now, the Holy Ghost continues His divine mission: to bear witness to Jesus, to animate the Church, to guide and instruct His Spouse. Through the power of the Spirit, the Apostles won victories, the Gospel was preached, and the Church was established. The true children of the Church, like the Apostles before them, continue to testify through the holiness of their lives that the Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church is the one true and saving Church—sustained always by the Spirit of Truth, Sanctity, Power, and Strength.
Each day the Holy Ghost comes to us anew, proceeding from the Father and the Son. How greatly we should desire to receive Him worthily! He strengthens us, equips us for spiritual battle, and grants us the courage and grace to persevere. Victory is assured—not by our strength, but by His. Just as He fortified the Apostles, so too does He come to help us, the children of Holy Mother Church. Let us not allow the awareness of our own weakness to discourage us, but instead place complete trust in Him. If we humble ourselves and ardently ask His help, He will fit us to be living witnesses of Christ in both word and deed.
Do I thank the Holy Ghost for the grace of Faith? Do I ask daily for His help in fulfilling my vocation and growing in holiness?
Second Point
Our Testimony of Jesus Christ
Throughout the ages, countless faithful children of the Church, filled with the Holy Ghost, have given glorious testimony of Jesus. Even in our own time, the Spirit enlightens and strengthens believers to witness boldly to Christ.
The Church has long endured the world’s scorn, suffering persecution and false accusation. Yet it is precisely in such trials that her saints have been formed. Their heroic witness became the Church’s glory. Today, even in the absence of outward persecution, we are not without opportunity. By living lives of faith, charity, and virtue, we too bear testimony to our Divine Savior.
Anyone who speaks or acts for the glory of God participates in the sublime work of the Holy Ghost. Priests and missionaries, like the Apostles, proclaim the Gospel under great hardship. Religious and laypeople alike, through obedience, humility, and works of mercy, manifest the presence of the Holy Ghost to the world. Their lives shine with the mark of Christ’s disciples. The words of Jesus ring true: “You shall be witnesses unto Me—even to the uttermost parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Shouldn’t our hearts burn with a desire to give such witness—to love with humility, to suffer with joy, and to serve with devotion? May our lives echo the sweet truth of Christ’s words: that His yoke is easy and His burden light.
Do I possess this fervor? Have I been faithful in showing Christ to others?
Affections
O my Jesus, filled with the Holy Ghost, the Apostles bore shining testimony of Thee through their preaching, their miracles, and even their martyrdom. In Thy mercy, Thou hast also called me to be Thy witness—Thy disciple and faithful friend. I long to imitate their humility, meekness, and burning love for Thy Sacred Heart.
But I have so often failed. I’ve neglected these virtues in thought, word, and deed. Renew in me, I pray Thee, the flame of fervor. Fill me with the strength of Thy Holy Spirit so that, through me too, the world may glimpse the beauty of a life formed in Thee.
Resolution: I will strive to glorify Jesus and advance the interests of His Divine Heart through charity, patience, and cheerful service.
Spiritual Bouquet: “You shall be witnesses unto Me even to the uttermost parts of the earth.”
Prayer: O Jesus, living in Mary…
